Long ago, there was a pack of dark wolves that controlled most of the land. They were known for being cruel and destructive, and many wished to destroy them. Those that voiced their opinion and went against the wolves in charge would pay a great price, most times with their lives. For years the leaders of this dark pack would control the lands through force and intimidation. They had a great deal of hope for the alphas' pup, Hecate. Surely, they thought, any wolf with a pelt as black as night would have a heart to match. They were wrong.

Since she was a pup, Hecate knew that she was destined for something better. Something that she would fight for that was pure of cause. The poison that leaked into the hearts of the dark wolves did not course through her veins, and so she started to question the destruction that her lineage had brought upon her kind. When she became of age, Hecate thought that she could talk to her parents, try to convince them that the way the lands were run only hurt others. Thoroughly disturbed by the outward defiance of the female wolf, Hecate was given a choice. To continue her parents' cruel ways or be sentenced to death, like the commonplace traitor. The answer was not as simple as Hecate had hoped, but she wished to follow her heart.

She ran from their territory to escape execution, and none could catch her. The daughter of two powerful and quick-witted alpha's, Hecate easily evaded her pursuers. Apollo, the wolf at the head of the resistance, was the one that found her. She soon fell in love with him, and his cause. They returned, and she fought her own pack. She wished only to be rid of the darkness of her past, and be with the wolf she loved, but Hecate had unwittingly done quite a bit more. Gaia, Nature herself, rewarded the two.

Gaia gave them powers that seemed impossible. She gave them the power of the elements; Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind. The two held such power that they never fully died. A part of their spirits still exists in Blue Winds River. They are as near to divine as is possible, and their ancestors really do see them as gods. Their descendants come to the holy place, and are blessed with an ability of Wind, Fire, Earth, or Water. Many even have physical manifestation of the gift, in the form of impossible markings or wings. Unfortunately, some are found unworthy of the gods' gifts. Of course, that must be due to their own shortcomings...

This rosy picture of the so-called gods is not shared by everyone. Those without elemental abilities share a decidedly darker idea. They're beginning to wonder if the dark wolves were really so wrong. Apollo and Hecate do not share their gifts with all wolves, and some question that. These gods seem to be the cruel ones. The Elemental wolves are now all over the area. Their packs have the advantage of magic, and the normal wolves are getting nervous. Perhaps a scheme to create a new, superior breed of wolf is being carried out. Apollo and Hecate made the world a much easier place for their favored ones, certainly. A few more radical groups declare that they're trying to drive the "true wolf" to extinction. They demand to be given the same power as the Elementals, or eliminate the competition. Questions haunt the minds of the wolves. Do the ordinary wolves have any chance against the power of the Elements? Or will the Elementals be caught unawares?

Rayne - Ryuzaki - Nyx	February 2nd Happy New Month everyone! As you can see I've been making some changes, but luckily none of them directly affect anyone. Thanks to a tip from some proboards people, I have decided to downsize the boards. Now it does not look as empty as it did before (though, it is still pretty empty). My goals for this month are to get up to fifteen members and to have at least four new affiliates. Also, if we reach our mark I can introduce some new plots into the roleplay that Ryu and I have been cooking up. But there is no point of new plots until we get some more active members. =] Also, I updated the FAQ and tips for roleplaying if you need to refer to either of those pages.
